Dickies Pond, 140x140, oil on canvas, 2004
In 2000 we spent a long hot summer at Dickie Tryons house in the Gascogne, close to the Pyrenee mountains. Allthough the house was at the top of a hill, there was a big pond. Lots of frogs lived in it. One day I tried to imagine what it would be like to live in this pond. And that was what started this painting. This is what you might see beeing a frog looking up from down under and see waterlelies, flowers, a little boy playing, his mother reading and his father drawing a sketch for this painting.
